List of web Chat AI models ( as of Feb 17, 2025)

These are my preferred choices of AI models for most use cases. Try these options in this order, if you are unsure where to start.

  • Chatgpt with o3-mini-high - thinks and gives summary of thought process (may require paid subscription - if not available, try o3-mini, o1, o1-mini in that order)
  • Deepseek with DeepThink R1 - while o3-mini-high does perform better than Deepseek, deepseek's open sharing of its thought process is invaluable in most use cases. You don't just get the answer, you learn a lot about how to come up with the answer if you need to do it another time.
  • Qwen with Qwen2.5-Max - fast, including image generation and video generation.
  • Perplexity with Deep Research - for a thorough web research of some topic/question. (may require paid subscription).
  • Allen Institute of AI with Llama Tulu 3 405B - another fast and good option.
  • Anthropic Claude with Claude 3.5 sonnet - good for anything not requiring latest info from the web (unfortunately does not have web support yet)
  • Poe - You can try most of these and many other bots including custom bots users have created through this single site - try image generators (flux, stable diffusion xl, are good ones), audio and video bots. Their free program has very small daily limits on how much you can chat, so if you run out, try again next day, or get a paid subscription (currently starts at 5$ per month).
  • Sora - for video generation, from OpenAI
  • Grok from X If you have an X/twitter paid account, you can use this grok AI - currently v2, but they are launching (not sure if announcing or releasing) Grok 3 which is expected to be very good, later today (8 PM PST Feb 17)
  • For music creation, try suno ai and udio ai

Note!

  • Never share passwords, credit card info, etc. on the web.
  • Tip: For all models that support it, use web search if you want the model to search things on the web and use the results to answer questions. If you don't need it, turn off web search for best results.
  • Tip: For more complex questions, ask multiple of these models and have a good AI combine all the results from different responses.
  • Some models and features are available only for paid subscribers - if so, try the next one in the list.
